Saying goodbye to our friends is extremely difficult. This family was with us for most of our mission in University Branch but then they moved away. When we moved to Ayat Branch we were so happy to see them again.

We were invited to attend a special dinner and presentation by our new friend, Ambassador Natalina from South Sudan.
Elder Makuwa gave a few remarks and special praises to the Ambassador for her work and commitment to bring the people of Africa together to find common interests through researching their history.

Our final evening, the mission leaders invited us for another special dinner on the way to the airport.

On the way home we stopped in Egypt to see a few sites.
This was the family pet in a Nubian Village.
This was all part of an LDS based tour called Gospel on the Nile.
Abu Simbel is one of the temples they moved in the 60's to avoid being submerged due to a dam being built.
What an adventure. This was taken in the Valley of the Kings. One of the Ramses temples.
Our Egyptian guide, Shareen and LDS guide, Bruce Porter, really brought Egypt to life.
Many of these wall engravings were painted over 5,000 years ago with much of the color still preserved.
The tour was fascinating, pointing out the similarities between our gospel and the ancient Egyptian religion.
Quite often they would point out things on walls we could relate to such as: The Abrahamic covenant (below), Priesthood, various steps to gain Eternal Life, Ritual Embrace (above), and many more.
We went to a papyrus store that created replicas of the facsimiles from the Book of Abraham in the Pearl of Great Price. Interesting how we saw similar scenes on 5,000 year old walls in Egypt (below). The round shaped hypocephalus was put under the head of a mummy.

Continuing our flight home. Interesting how some aircraft have outside cameras that they share with you on the entertainment screen.

What a wonderful welcome home as many in our family greeted us in the airport!
Perhaps you're wondering the reason for the long delay in our final blog post. When we arrived home it took a while to get situated, get phone service and wifi, but then a week later, my father passed away at the age of 95. Big challenges and emotions to deal with as my mother passed away in December and now my father in April.
I look forward to seeing them again. So grateful that I have received and know answers to life's questions such as; After this life, where do we go? I know Jesus Christ lives. I know that he was resurrected and through his gift of the atonement, after death we will all be resurrected and go back to that Father that gave our spirits life. I am so grateful for this knowledge and more, revealed through ancient prophets in the scriptures and living prophets on the earth today.
