A Walk in Entoto Park, Senior Couples Visit and Hangi, more

We drove to a nearby park called Entoto. When we arrived there was a big "I Love Ethiopia" photo opp so we paid the small fee for them to take our picture.

The walk was quite nice. The elevation of the walk ranges from around 8,500 to 10,500 feet. They have security people stationed along the way to keep the park safe. There were very few people visiting that day so it was very quiet and nice place to take some selfie's.

Sister Martin took some pictures of some new children in her primary class.

We invited the senior couples over for Family Home Evening (daytime) with lunch and a movie. I made teriyaki chicken and fish. The couples brought various sides and we had a great time. 

The movie was one of my own compilation. Since most of the couples are from New Zealand, I research some of my Church history Docudramas and compiled 3 clips from different shows. They were from Living Scriptures: The life of Prophet David O. McKay and the other from Church History. Another clip was from Ensign to the Nations. Some showed inspiring true stories about leaders of the Maori people receiving direction from God about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ long before our missionaries arrived in New Zealand.

We all had a great time together and hope to be able to do it again soon.

Sister Martin took my picture with Elder Bobo at the University church branch. He is native Ethiopian from Debre Zeit and helps everyone with the local language challenges.

Most of the Senior Couples gathered behind the mission office for a New Zealand "Hangi" where they cook up various meat and veggies in their traditional Maori style.

Other friends joined us and we had a great time.

There was chicken, pork, salads, scones, sweet potatoes, 

And steamed Crab that was specially imported. It took me, Elder Martin about an hour to eat the crab in order to get every edible piece (without tools).  

There's no picture, but we had three cakes, steamed pudding with cream custard sauce and Sister Martin made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.

After the food, a few shared beautiful songs and entertained us. 

I asked around for a restaurant that served fish without the head and fins still attached and brother Abere told us about Genesis Fish House. The Woodburys joined us with him for some fish and chips.

This restaurant was packed with people and the food was great.

 

Then we had a wonderful baptismal service for a new brother. He was well prepared and had studied about the Church and Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ for a long time before making this decision.

We talked to Sister Tsion, center, and she said she is preparing for a mission. She led all the music.

Several from our little University Branch came to support and welcome him. It was a joyous occasion and an outpouring of the Spirit for all who attended. 

Sister Martin Made a carrot cake for Elder Gomez birthday, a missionary from Australia who just moved in to the apartment upstairs.

While delivering the cake, I took a few apartment pictures as part of an inspection. Not too shabby.
