We celebrated 20 years since President Russell M. Nelson came to Ethiopia to dedicate the land for the preaching of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then Apostle, Elder Nelson, gave a prayer and blessing upon the people and the land of Ethiopia. It happened where our mission office currently is. This was also the location where we had a big celebration and party.
We sat with some of our friends to to eat some local Habesha cuisine.
They even had a big Church cake. Some of the branch Presidents were asked to cut and serve it.
There were organized games for the children.
They also put a program together.
This is a skit put on by the younger missionaries that represented the Angel of the Lord appearing to Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah. They were awesome and brought down the house.

Other presentations included talks about the early days of the Church in Ethiopia and songs such as our District President's family singing Families Can Be Together Forever. They just returned from Accra, Ghana. They were sealed together forever as a family in the Temple, The house of the Lord. We were all so very happy for them.

And more games...

I tried a new recipe of curry chicken and invited the Sister Missionaries over. The Sisters and I loved it but Sister Martin didn't like it. This particular recipe called for extra Turmeric and she said it overpowered the other flavors. She's probably right. But then I started looking up all the claimed health benefits of consuming extra Turmeric. One site claimed 20 benefits.
Wow, all three sisters love chocolate chip cookies.
Zone conference had a variety of things including so many different missionaries speaking.
New Elder: Elder Feleke from Hawassa, Ethiopia
New Sister: Sister Dennis from Nigeria
Sister Mavundla from South Africa sharing her testimony of the Book of Mormon
A spontaneous invitation asked of Sister Martin to share her favorite scripture of the Book of Mormon. She then bore her testimony of how she loves the Book of Mormon.
The Zone Leaders shared a video and I took a picture of our Mission Leaders.
This was a scene from the video that the Zone leaders made to stir things up a bit so we don't fall asleep.
Elder Buck and Elder Udeme
The Sisters in the Zone had their own meeting outside; Sisters Dennis, Sam, Mavundla, Udoekong and Sisters Cowley, Oba, Martin and Tohiariki

Thanksgiving and even Turkey in Ethiopia. Thank you, Elder Oba!
Elder and Sister Oba hosted our Thanksgiving Dinner both this year and last year. We are so thankful for them and all our wonderful blessings.
We had some friends from Canada (NGO) also join us and of course the Cowley family.
We had some bed bugs or some kind of bug or spider bite us for several days.
I took our bed apart and we cleaned and cleaned.
I took a couple of pictures of bugs but I doubt these are the culprits.
But hoping that whatever it was that it is gone now.
So strange.
A wonderful new brother was baptized, covenanting to follow Jesus Christ.
Looks like Sister Martin had a bit of a cold.
What a wonderful day and event.
What a fun celebration of 20 years and Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHope you get feeling better Sister Martin. I am just recovering from being down for a few days with a cold.
We love you guys and love learning all you are doing.
