Teaching Self-Reliance - Baptism - Raw Meat? - ice cream! - Impersonating Elder Martin? - Sisters make bread

All the missionaries that were about to return home came to our Advanced Job Search / Education and Self-Reliance Class. I think seven was our biggest group yet. 

Now that they have completed their missions, we wanted to prepare them to go back to the real world of working to make a living. 

The Church offers various programs to help such as: BYU Pathway connect, Perpetual Education Fund (to help them pay for any college), iWork program at BYU Hawaii, Benson Scholarship and many more. 

We attended the baptism of a new brother. He was so happy that day. Again we were lucky to have a back-up location since our church had no water to fill the font.

Oh no, someone tried to get into our clerks office. Better call maintenance. 

We met some of our members for lunch at an Ethiopian restaurant. 

We asked for cooked meat but when it came out it looked quite suspiciously raw. 

It was some raw Kitfo (ground beef)!

I told asked them to please take it back and cook it. They did and then it was great. Apparently a common thing here to eat raw beef. We ate fish too.

We saw this cool cactus plant outside the restaurant.

We found a little ice cream shop and it was good. A rare find here. This was just after having lunch with Elder and Sister Oba.

Sister Nwaokonko forgot here name badge for our District Conference so I lent her one of mine. 

She was so embarrassed she would either cover her face or cover my name badge with her hair.

They usually give us translating headsets but this time they didn't work well.

We have so many come to these events that none of our church buildings are big enough. So we have them in hotels. 

District conference speakers and choir were really good. Sister Oba did an awesome job leading the choir singing, "It Is Well With My Soul" from the new online hymn book. 

We enjoyed sitting between great members.

Before it started everyone filled the hall.

We were indeed filled with the spirit on that day.

Always something interesting happening in the mission office when we visit.

Oh good, Sister Nwaokonko brought her name badge.

We had the Sister Missionaries come for Sunday dinner as usual.

We made naan bread to go with the butter chicken, yum.

Sister Martin decided to teach them to make bread on preparation day.

While the bread was rising and baking, Sister Martin showed them a Missionary movie about Sisters learning to be united with each other.
