Elder and Sister Martin Ethiopia Mission: Movie with Members - Taste of Tigray - FHE - New Zealand Hangi - 6 Teeth Repaired - Valentine

Elder and Sister Tohiarki invited us to go to a movie with a group of members which was sort of a youth activity. Sister Tohiarki said that a new friend she met at the New Zealand Embassy had donated and paid for all of their tickets.

We decided to go. We paid 200 birr each for the show and 130 birr for the popcorn totaling a whopping 530 birr. For all those in the America that's $4.17. It was a really nice theatre with big comfortable seats and best of all, it was in English.

The Lion King: Mufasa movie. It was a fun 3D show.

Several months ago, we learned about a traditional Tigray dish called Tihilo. Trigray is a northern region of Ethiopia. Two members we know are from Tigray so we invited them to join us at a restaurant I found in Addis Ababa.

It was so interesting how the server sits down with you and forms these balls of dough made from barley, etc. Then the server starts feeding you as well as our friends. They use this wooden utensil they call "Forketa".

You dip the balls into kind of a meat stew.

We like Tihilo.

They brought out a roll of TP, often used as napkins here.

"Welcome Sisters. I made a new kind of curry chicken for the first time for you to try."

It's a Japanese curry that I modified from a recipe online. Typically for Japanese curry I've used these pre-made cubes of bricks that you dissolve in hot water and it makes the sauce. Since I can't find that out here I must find other ways and improvise.

They loved it!

Saw another bug in our apartment. Hope we don't get another bite.

For Elder's Quorum, one of our good members taught Sister Browning's conference talk on Seeking Answers to Spiritual Questions

This talk began in such an interesting way about how scientists used to know for many years that Pluto was in our solar system but then changed. Sister Martin taught Relief Society with her friend, Fevan, translating for her, but no pictures.

Since most of the members are single, every Tuesday we have a branch Family Home Evening.

This game was Pictionary.

We had another fun farewell and welcome to senior missionaries coming and going. They called it a New Zealand "Hangi." lot's of food and even a little entertainment by those from NZ.

I had to go to the dentist again for a cracked tooth. After the dentist restored that one, she said I have other teeth wearing out that she could work on. I said, "Please fix them." 2 1/2 hours and she had fixed 6 of my teeth. All for under $200.00. Wow.
